SWM Severn Tunnel Jct & Fishguard Harbour Looking south-east from Cardiff side of Bridgend station. The trailing turnout in the down South Wales Main line leads to the Vale of Glamorgan line and doubles in the cutting beyond. This link was necessary to maintain rail services to the former Port Talbot railway which previously had served the colliery complexes in the area. The entire hillside was being reworked and all lines above Maesteg had been removed by June 2005. The Port Talbot-Cwmdu section previously ran over the rail overbridge seen on the left.
